I sat and watched the new video on the Paperartsy blog this afternoon! Flowers is the theme and the samples were glorious!
It inspired me to have a play and I decided to make it a practical one.
A while back, I created a series of framed pics, a book cover and a zipped bag using bright fresco paints and stencilling.
I decided to adapt this style and create something for the flower topic.
I chose a plain white gift bag as my substrate.
I painted a background using bright fresco colours; free scribble with a stabilo pencil, water wash and stamped dots with Red archival;and stencilled some flowers in black archival.
I added a couple of sentiments from HPXT03.
Next, Stamped some flowers onto bright tissue using HP1004EZ, scrunched them up and added pearl centres.
I shredded some tissue in my paper shredder and tied it around the handle.
I found this to be quick and will make some more as people appreciate the personal touch when giving a gift.
I should have been at a Sue Carrington class today, but after 2 weeks of middling health, I wasn't quite up to the journey and the intensive day! Boohoo!
I took things easy and did a bit of yoga and then had a look at my iPad! There was a new post from Alison Bomber, demonstrating some fabulous cards.
After I had googled the method that she described...." wrinkle free distress technique". I set to work.
First, I glued some manuscript paper to my card and painted over with PA fresco Chalk.
I chose some PA Smoothy Heavy card stock and put some Distress Stain inks onto my craft sheet and sprayed with water. I chose Tattered Rose, Faded Jeans and Vintage photo. I pressed the card into the ink, dried, repeated until I was happy.
Next, stamped a flower from HP1009 with archival and clear embossed it. Added bits and bobs and a PA sentiment.
Really pleased with the effect and grateful to Alison for the inspiration! hers are amazing and you can find them HERE.
I have been fascinated by the latest blog challenge on Paperartsy and decided to have a go...one more time! Sorry for the dreadful pun!
I was in Sainsburys the other day when I saw this clock and "ping" lightbulb moment! I decided to decorate it in the style of the topic Time!
No idea where it would go, but that is half the fun.
First, I gave the clock a coat of PA fresco Stone.
I chose some photos of me and my family from the olden days and turned them sepia, printed them onto copy paper and arranged them onto the clock.
I glued them with Claudia Helmuth Matte medium.
I filled the gaps with buttons.......added the word Memories, fromPA Clocks 4. Used a PA mini stamp of script and finished off the edges with Treasure Gold White Fire.
Only started adding the bits to it after dinner tonight, so another whirlwind make!
Quite pleased with the transformation.
Had some time to play this evening and after a little browse on Pinterest, I decided to mess about with an envelope!
First, I aged it with distress inks, doodled on it; wrote a shopping list; added washi tape; and glued down part of a poem and some stamps.
Next, I used a selection of Paperartsy mini stamps, blots, script and postmarks to age it further.
I glued a piece of dictionary inside the window and added an old film negative.
Finally, I stamped some images from PA Ink and the dog Schooldays 1 to my journal page and attached the envelope.
My idea was to show the passage of time that this envelope has travelled and its uses along the way.
I am entering this into the PA challenge.
I would like to include this piece into the CVC challenge also as this is another example of something that is well travelled!
I was so inspired by Keren Baker' beautiful work on the PA blog last night, that I had to have a go at stamping clocks with embossing fluid and get out my old mica powders. Not the same technique, but inspired by her work.
I started by rummaging around to look for old photos of my family when I came across this old page of 60's images that I printed off last year.
I transferred parts of the images to my journal by wetting it and rubbing the ink through with a bone folder.
I added an extra image to fill a gap and was pleased with my background.
Next, I stamped with Clocks 3 and Clocks 4 in archival ink and with embossing fluid and rubbing over with mica powders.
For contrast, I cut out some printed images....The Beatles, minus Ringo....and added to my work.
I ended up scribbling a frame, which seems to be my thing at the moment??
I played around with sentiments but decided to leave it to speak for itself!
It reminded me of my youth and made me smile!
I am linking this to the Paperartsy blog challenge here.
Well, my first ever GD spot! Never thought that I would be wearing my" Big Girl Pants ", but, there you go!
Leandra requested something on the theme of Time, and as I have more or less all the PA stamps which are time related, I was happy to oblige.
I started with dear Ellie the elephant and painted her with 2 coats of PA fresco Chalk.
I looked out all my PA time-related clocks and sentiments and stamped them onto white tissue paper.
I heat-sealed the ink by blasting with my heat gun. The stamps used are Clocks 3, Clocks 4, HP1004EZ, ID 10EZ, ELB05, HPXT03, HPXT04.
I cut up and glued my clocks and sentiments and enjoyed arranging them along the contours of Ellie.
Next, I embossed clocks onto PA metal card and cut strips for the base of the legs.
I filled in the gaps on Ellie's body by dabbing Leaf Green archival ink through a dotty stencil.
I gave Ellie some flowers by stamping HP1004EZ onto tissue, scrunching, gluing and adding a brad.
I decided that Ellie needed some earrings and decided to make her some of the legendary "Leandra Beads". I had never made any before, but found it quite easy to do. I just googled Leandra's beads and found a video by Suze Weinberg!
I am always inspired by the creations of the designers over at the Dragons dream Tag it on challenge.
This time, I have joined in and the challenge was to include the number 1 and a stamp.
I started with a large tag and brayered a background in PA fresco colours..Purple Rain, Sky, Glass Blue and finishing with snowflake.
I cut out a number one and stamped and clear embossed...Ali Bomber inspired....some LP stamps.
I decided to highlight my stamping with fresco Limelight.
I mounted the number onto black card and put it onto the tag....but it lacked something. so, I echoed the limelight with a little script stamping and then a larger script stamp in Watering Can Archival.
Finished it off with a lime ribbon that I cut from new top yesterday. Funny how things just fall into place!
I was excited by the Countryview challenge topic this month of " On Your Travels." Lots of great examples from the designers too, so I decided to join in.
I wanted to achieve a well travelled postcard feel and make it vintage too.
I started by using Paperartsy fresco paints in Seaweed, Mocha Mousse and Bora Bora and brayered them randomly onto my journal page. I then added some fresco Banana as a background for my large car stamp.
I played around with HP1207EZ stamps, a few postmark stamps, postcard stamp and bits of script in a selection of Archival ink colours. The postage stamps are real ones.
I finished off with a good old scribble and doodle around the edges and was pleased with the finished effect.
I am entering this into this months CVC challenge.
I love the stencils theme on the Paperartsy blog, but holidays keep intervening! So tonight I knocked off a quick idea because I wanted to experiment.
I like the idea of repeating an image and will play with this more at a later date.
First I found a page in my journal that I had cleaned my brushes on.
Next I stencilled a butterfly six times in various archival inks, to simulate flight.
Finally I scribbled and added a PA sentiment, emphasising a different word each time...the beauty of the English languauge!
I was very honoured and flattered to be asked by Emma to produce samples for her new stamp launch!
Didn't really get why a neat and tidy crafter wanted to ask Mrs Messy to produce stuff!
Anyway, I actually planned out some ideas and made a few prototypes! Never normally do this but felt that it was a big responsibility!
Her stamps are Travel themed and her colour palette is Lake Wanaka, Space Cadet, Stone, Taupe and French Roast.
I began with a small notebook which I created by painting onto canvas.
I padded it out with wadding and lined it with cotton.
I stitched some pages inside and stamped a few titles onto the first few pages to make it a travel notebook.
My second piece was a tag. I ironed some calico onto vilene and attached it to the tag, fringing the bottom part. I painted wave shapes as a background; used Emma's stamps en masse as a second layer; some frayed hessian, and used the paints to dye some seam binding and attached a photo from my recent holiday.
My third sample is a photo pocket. I used a piece of cream, ribbed card and scored and folded it into 3 sections. I ran a gold leafing pen around all the edges of the card and around 2 tags. I printed with Emma's words onto the end panel using archival ink and stencilled with one of Emma's stencils as a background.
I used 2 more holiday pics on the tags and tucked them into pockets.
The backs of the tags are ready for holiday notes.
The left hand side is secured with magnets and opens up to reveal more space for holiday memories.
My final piece is a "postcard". I cut a piece of Paperartsy Smoothy Heavy Cardstock and created drippage in 2 directions. I used the spaces to stamp with Emma's travel words and finished it off with a holiday pic of my Grandchildren. I have a TH Postcard stamp which often comes in handy.
This was my simplest piece but my favourite.
I have really enjoyed playing with Emma's stamps, they are very inspiring.....and I have never washed my hands so many times in my whole life!
You can see Emma's stamps and her interpretation of them over on the Paperartsy blog.
Whoops, learning how to attach things and ended up with 2.....?
