Grungepaste Lost and Found

Very slow off the mark this time with the Grungepaste challenge. Mojo for this one has gone for a holiday!
When Leandra remarked that she hoped that peeps would go beyond stencilling with this I was totally stumped!
Determined to join in but boat not really floating that well.
My aim was to incorporate lace into the grungepaste and somehow make it difficult to see the join. Idea being that I could imprint the lace pattern into the grungepaste and then carry on with real lace!
FAIL!!!
I embedded my lace into the paste but totally failed to use the lace as a stencil. The bumpy grungepaste above the tissue paper images is the nearest that I got.....but at least I tried!

I started with grungepaste text, manuscript paper and brushstrokes of Fresco paint, a bit of black printing and some PA stamps onto tissue. Added some rusting powder to the lace.....didn't even manage that properly and arranged a few buttons, a photo and some hardware.
Finished off by spraying some mica mist to age it further!
I think that Lost And Found should refer to my mojo at the moment....little bit cream crackered but still here!
Thanks for looking!

  5. Sometime forcing the mojo works and sometimes it doesn't. In this piece it definitely works. It may not of worked the way you intended but what you have created is superb! I love the white space ( something I struggle with) and the ageing looks so authentic. I would be very satisfied had I created this Hazel I love it! Xxx

  8. Well, Hazel, I love this! I think the rusted lace looks fab, actually! I agree with Alison that the composition is superb! The vintage look of the piece is lovely too. Also I think it's really helpful to hear about all the ups and downs of the project. Lace is so lovely to incorporate and it does amazing things when you apply all kinds of media to it, but it can take you out of your comfort zone and not always turn out as you expect. I love that you shared this with us. Honestly Hazel, this turned out a fantastic canvas! xx

  11. Oh my goodness Hazel, that is amazing work, and how funny, because I had the same idea of imprinting lace in grunge paste but it was such a disaster mine ended up in the bin! So gold star to you for turning out something so fabulous.
